The Freedom Shop is moving!

Image
The Freedom Shop will soon be moving to a new location - next door! From mid May you will be able to find us inside Book Haven at 160 Riddiford St, Newtown, literally next door to Opportunity for Animals where we have been for the last 10 years. Until then the shop will be closed while we sort out the move. These will be exciting new times for the collective and the best thing is that we will be able to be open 7 days a week! There will be an official opening (COVID permitting), so keep an eye out for further announcements.  We would like to thank Opportunity for Animals for the incredible support they have given us over the years - we would not be around without you! See you all soon!

… but not very far. We’re still inside Opportunities for Animals, but at the back of the shop. The new space is a bit more enclosed and feels more like a book shop. We’re still in the process of making it pretty.  So don’t despair if you don’t see our window display, just wander to the back.

The Freedom Shop is looking for a new Location

The Freedom Shop, your friendly local anarchist book store, is about to be homeless again and is looking for a new space in central Wellington. Just in case you haven't met us yet: The Freedom shop stocks books on radical and alternative political literature, from books to zines, also patches, badges, t-shirts and music. Our stock includes books on Feminism, Anarchism, Social Movements, Ecology, Colonisation, Anti-Racism and many more. The Kaupapa of the Freedom Shop emphasises the aim to spread radical information and support DIY anarchist culture. We are fighting for a world free of oppression and coercion. The Freedom Shop currently lives in Trades Hall on Vivian Street, but unfortunately we will have to leave these premises at the end of August. In the past we have shared a space with the internet cafe "Oblong" on Cuba Mall's Leftbank. We are looking for a space in Wellington where we are able to have regular opening hours and display our fine radical stock. We wo
